Here are the steps to take in order to get a working driver disk you can use
when booting the Windows XP for AMD 64-bit installation CD and hitting F6 to
specify additional drivers:

1. Download the VIA Hyperion Pro driver archive from VIA's site:
http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/Hype...ro64_v096P2.zip

2. Extract the contents of the archive downloaded in step one using winzip.

3. Extract the contents of "VIAHyperionpro64-096P2.exe" (the only file in
the archive you downloaded in step 1) using winzip.

4. Open the "SATA" directory.

5. Open the "driver" directory.

6. Copy the "X64" directory and its contents to a blank floppy.

7. Save the text below between ;;start and ;;end to a file named
TXTSETUP.OEM in the root of the floppy.

;;start

[Disks]
d1 = "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller Driver", X64viasraid.inf, X64

[Defaults]

scsi = VIARAID_VT3149_X64

[scsi]
VIARAID_VT3149_X64 = "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller (AMD 64-bit)"

[Files.scsi.VIARAID_VT3149_X64]
driver = d1, viasraid.sys, viasraid
inf = d1, viasraid.inf

[HardwareIds.scsi.VIARAID_VT3149_X64]
id = "PCIVEN_1106&DEV_3149","viasraid"

[Config.viasraid]
value = ParametersPnpInterface, "5", REG_DWORD, 1

;;end

Yiiiiha..! I sat with that damned TXTSETUP.OEM file for a few hours already, I thought I had copy-pasted everything correctly. I should have just started blank like you maybe to get a better overview. It works anyway, currently installing Windows2003 Enterprise 64bit beta, compliments of microsoft.com wink.gif

Thanks lgoldson, you are my personal Jesus Christ for the weekend

Cheers,

- Tommo

:D

My search for a VIA SATA 64-bit F6 driver diskette is OVER!!!!

Thanks a bunch!

I confirm that this DOES work. Make sure that you follow the instructions exactly as stated. Copy both the SATA/driver/X64 folder from the VIA_HyperionPro64_v096p2.exe file and the self-created txtsetup.oem file onto a floppy.

Btw, I noticed that WindowsXP-64 recognized and installed drivers for my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. The TechTV program indicated there were no 64-bit drivers available for ATI cards. What gives?

There are ATI drivers included with the beta but they do not have OpenGL. Games crawl. Period. We are expecting to get some ATI drivers here very soon. Stay tuned.

I've taken the liberty of posting the instructions for this in the Knowledgebase. You can get to it from the main menu on the homepage.

When I run the Hyperion Executable, it tires to install the driver on my machine (not the machine I am trying to build).

How do I get to the SATA directoires? (Extract the files from the file I extracted from the zip file)
